Dr. B. V. Raman Ji (1912–1998):
Father of Modern Astrology
Dr. B. V. Raman is widely regarded as the Father of Modern Astrology for his immense contribution to the revival and global recognition of Vedic Astrology. In 1984, he founded the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences (ICAS) to promote structured education, research, and ethical practice in Jyotisha.
A science graduate and homeopathy specialist, Dr. Raman was trained in astrology by his grandfather, Prof. B. Suryanarain Rao, founder of The Astrological Magazine. He revived the magazine in 1936 and edited it for over 62 years, earning a place in the Guinness Book of Records. Through his accurate predictions, scholarly writings, and international lectures, Dr. Raman established the credibility of Vedic Astrology and inspired generations of astrologers worldwide.
Late Shri M. N. Kedar (10 June 1933 – 7 March 2019)
Shri M. N. Kedar Ji was a distinguished Vedic astrologer, researcher, author, educator, and a retired Senior Administrative Officer of the Indian Audit & Accounts Department. As the Founder Chairman of ICAS Delhi-II (Tilak Nagar Chapter) and former National Vice President of ICAS, Chennai, he played a pioneering role in establishing structured astrology education in Delhi under the guidance of Dr. B. V. Raman. A respected authority on Predictive Astrology, Divisional Charts, Dasha Systems, Mundane Astrology, and Horoscope Analysis, he authored numerous acclaimed books and research papers. Honoured with titles such as Jyotisha Vachaspati, Jyotisha Bhushan, and Jyotisha Bhanu, his scholarship, teaching, and lifelong dedication to preserving the classical principles of Jyotisha continue to inspire generations of students and practitioners.
Shri Krishnamachari Rangachari Ji
Shri Rangachari Krishnamachari Ji is a veteran Vedic astrologer, researcher, author, and mentor with over seven decades of association with astrology. A retired banker holding qualifications including B.A., B.G.L., CAIIB, ACIB, FCIB (London) and Jyotish Visharada, he inherited his passion for Jyotisha at the age of 12 under the guidance of his grandfather and renowned scholars. He specializes in Jaimini Astrology, Tajik (Varshaphala), Vastu, Palmistry, and Numerology, and has mentored countless students through ICAS and other institutions. A former Vice President of ICAS, Chairman of ICAS Delhi-II, and co-author of Tajik Shastra, he has received the ICAS Lifetime Achievement Award along with numerous prestigious honours for his exceptional contribution to Vedic Astrology.
